independent verification & validation (IV&V)
IV&V encompasses a series of analysis activities performed by an independent third party to identify improvement areas to increase the quality and reliability of a system or project under development.

The primary activity of an IV&V assessment is to identify risks that may impact project milestones. At VeriSolv we address ongoing software engineering life cycle activities with a focus on performance against project objectives. We evaluate all project deliverables and processes against applicable client internal policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, requirements, and industry best practices.

We firmly believe that the IV&V function is a critical success factor in implementing mission critical systems on time and with high quality. We developed our VeriSolv IV&V methodology (VIMTM) by using our “lessons learned” from successfully managing and implementing large, complex IT projects, as well as leveraging industry standards and best practices such as the:

·Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity
Model Integration (CMMi) Level 3

·Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineering (IEEE)
Standards 1012-2004 (Standard for Software Verification
and Validation)

·Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Project Management
Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)

·ISO 9001 standards

Our IV&V teams utilize a toolkit of process documentation, reference materials, and document templates and tools, tailored to support a project’s decision and management processes. We conduct risk-focused assessments that identify quality issues, risks and mitigation strategies associated with software development, testing, implementation, and transformation strategies. We thoroughly document our assessment findings and include specific recommendation for process improvement and risk mitigation.

We have successfully completed several IV&V projects for Federal, State and Commercial entities. To remain successful in performing IV&V assessments, all of our consultants have an average of ten years of experience in all phases of the SDLC as well as experience in performing IV&V, risk assessments and software quality assurance.
